Paving Rainbows Hat

My latest idea - playing around with stitches.  I got out my 400 Knitting Stitches book and found one I liked.  Raised Paving stitch.  The book showed it in one color.  But leave it to me to get ideas...  Converted the stitch for the loom and got to work.  And this is the result...

Love the way it turned out!  Used 2 yarns.  Bernat Mosaic in Calypso and Red Heart Super Saver in Black.  I used the knit and purl stitches with slipped stitches.  Much easier than it looks.  You can also use just 2 colors that are not self striping or just use one color.

Until I can figure out how to post a pdf file for download, here is the pattern!  Please let me know if you find a mistake or have a question.  Enjoy!!!!

  2. Drop Color B to inside of loom. i may sound dumb, but what do you mean, or is that just the cut thread.

    1. Do not cut it. You will pick it back up in a few rows. Just move it out of your way. When you get back around the loom, move it back out of the way of color A. It just means to kind of leave it in the middle until you pick it back up. ;) And when you do pick it back up, do not pull it tight from the previous row. Make sure it lays flat on the inside of the work. Same for when you pick color A back up. Or it will pull your work together from the inside.

  8. Just finished this hat and it is very small. Much too small for any adult head. Is is supposed to be a young child's hat?

    1. It should be adult size. Not sure why yours would be so small. What kind of yarn did you use? If it is a lighter weight yarn like sport or baby, it will be smaller. If so, try adding another 8 pegs for a larger size. ;)

  9. Renita, when you skip stitches are you moving the yarn behind the peg? I'm going to make myself a hat to match a new jacket I just bought.

So many projects so little time... Thank you, you're an inspiration.

    1. Good luck! Just remember to use uwrap knit for an adult size because flat knit will cause it to be small unless you want a small hat. I need to add that...

    1. I apologize for not seeing this until now. You will need to place one of the 5 peg sliders so that there are 31 pegs on each side of the loom between the sliders. The bolt will not go through the slider. You will need to place the bolt in the closest hole on the outside of the slider.
